Take Advantage of Advanced Diagnostic Testing

Many eye issues and diseases cause gradual vision loss without any noticeable symptoms, meaning you could suffer serious damage and not realize it until it’s too late. In most cases, this damage can be prevented with early intervention.

Our highly advanced diagnostic technology allows us to perform thorough eye health examinations, allowing us to spot potential indications of disease earlier. At Queensway Optometric, we invest in this technology to help preserve your vision.

Retinal Photography

The retina is a very light-sensitive system of tissues lining the back of the eye. Retinal health is a crucial part of your vision, and issues with the retina could result in vision loss.

Creating Annual Comparisons

Retinal photographs are detailed images of your retina that create a visual record of your current eye health. By comparing your retinal photos from year to year, we can monitor any changes your eyes go through overtime. We recommend having retinal photographs taken annually. Photographs may be required more often for patients with diabetes, macular degeneration, or other eye diseases.

Zeiss Clarus 500 Retinal Camera

We’re committed to using the latest technology to help you get a complete, comprehensive understanding of your eye health. Because of this commitment, we’re proud to use the Zeiss Clarus 500 Retinal Camera to observe your retina in newfound detail and clarity.

This state-of-the-art camera helps our team examine your entire retina, including your macula and peripheral retina, making disease detection easier, quicker, and more reliable.

LipiFlow

LipiFlow is a dry eye treatment technology that harnesses the power of thermal pulsations to help address symptoms of dry eye caused by meibomian gland dysfunction, an eye condition that can affect the stability of your tear film.

The technology works by gently applying heat to the inner and outer areas of your eyelids, while also massaging the eyelids from the outside. This helps melt blockages in your meibomian glands and promote a healthy flow of oils to help support your tear film and manage dry eye.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

OCT uses light waves to take cross-section images of your retina, showing each layer of tissue. This level of detail allows your optometrist to map and measure the thickness of your retinal layers, which helps with the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of retinal diseases. Your optometrist will let you know how often you should undergo OCT imaging to monitor your eye health.

Additional Diagnostic Tools

Topcon MYAH

Myopia–or nearsightedness–is a growing concern, especially for children. Early intervention is key for effective management. Topcon MYAH can help with its precise axial length measurement.

Axial length is the distance within the eyeball. As your axial elongates, nearsightedness worsens. MYAH tracks changes, allowing your optometrist to:

  • Identify high-risk children
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness
  • Develop personalized plans to slow or prevent further elongation
