Our Commitment to World Sight Day
Queensway Optometric Centre is Canada’s #1 fundraising practice for the 2022 World Sight Day Challenge! Our practice raised an amazing $10,073!
We are no strangers to participating in the World Sight Day Challenge, which we have been doing since 2009—our team at Queensway added a few new creative fundraising initiatives in 2022 to help contribute to our incredible success.
Led by our Office Manager, Terri Fracassa, and implemented by our dedicated doctors and staff, our fundraising events included:
Online silent auctions held year-round for many items, including frames, sunglasses, and other products donated by optical companies, local businesses, and the practice.
Sale of hand-made jewelry created by a family member, with proceeds donated.
Raffles for items donated by local businesses and the practice.
Bake sales with creative and appealingly packaged containers of baked goods.
Invited patients to donate after free services such as glasses adjustments.
Invited patients to donate in return for a pen, pencil, candy, or book at our used book table.
Held an adopt-a-stuffed-pet event where patients could donate and take home stuffed toys for their children.
We also incentivized patients to donate at various levels:
Those donating $5 got their name entered into a draw for J&J contact lenses.
Those donating $20 received a Queensway travel mug.
Those donating $30 received a mystery jewelry bag.
Our optometrists generally donated a full day of their eye exam fees in November, and donors’ names were displayed on the Glasses Wall of Fame.
Our team has collectively raised over $145,000 this year! We want to give a huge thanks to everyone involved and reiterate our continued support to helping people in need around the world to see.
